GiftLegacy Awards Announced at PPGC!
Crescendo celebrated its annual Practical Planned Giving Conference on September 25th and 26th in San Diego. It was Crescendo’s largest user conference attended by friends from all across the nation. They gathered to hear keynote speakers Paul Schervish and Jackie Franey and an excellent line-up of the nation’s top presenters. At the Monday luncheon, GiftLegacy Award winners were announced.
eMarketer of the Year Award
Congratulations to Tammy Wernke, Assistant Director, Gift Planning, The University of Cincinnati Foundation on receiving the coveted 2017 eMarketer of the Year Award. Tammy and her team have used Crescendo’s GiftLegacy tools and services since the fall of 2014 and have booked over $92 million in planned gifts!
GiftLegacy Website Award
The Best GiftLegacy Website Award was presented to LeTourneau University. Their planned giving website features a unique geometric design, custom donor stories, engaging campus photos, an introductory video, custom pages and more! Congratulations also to Victoria Theatre Association and Coast Guard Foundation who received Honorable Mention in the website category.
GiftLegacy Literature Award
The Best GiftLegacy Literature Award was presented to Boston University for their branded suite of marketing materials including print newsletters, bequest literature, wills guide, eblasts and more! Honorable Mention in this category was awarded to Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation and the YMCA of Greater Long Beach for their custom bequest campaign literature.
GiftLegacy Mission Video Award
The Best GiftLegacy Mission Video Award was awarded to Summa Health System. Their video features a contemporary design, footage of their facilities as well as branding that resonates with their health community. Honorable Mention was given to Salt Lake Community College and Medical College of Wisconsin for their creative mission videos.
Paul Schervish received the 2017 GiftLeader Award for his outstanding leadership in Philanthropy. Paul is Professor Emeritus of Sociology and founder of the Center on Wealth and Philanthropy at Boston College. He is the author of several well-known reports including Millionaires and the Millennium, which predicted the boomer wealth transfer.

About Kristen Schultz Jaarda, JD, LLM
Kristen Schultz Jaarda is Executive Vice President of Crescendo Interactive, Inc. She specializes in charitable tax planning and online marketing for planned gifts. She is responsible for client education and leads Crescendo's marketing services and support team. She is a nationally recognized speaker, conducts seminars nationwide and is a principal faculty member of GiftCollege.
Kristen serves as a board member for the American Council on Gift Annuities (ACGA) and as a member of the ACGA Rates and State Regulations Committees, Editorial Advisory Board member for Planned Giving Today, Committee Member for the ABA Charitable Planning and Organization's Group, past Legislative Chair and a board member for the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning of Greater Los Angeles (PPP-LA), a member of the Ventura County Planned Giving Council and a committee member and volunteer for several California charities. She writes weekly for CrescendoTweet and her planned giving blog.
Previously, Kristen served as Counsel to the Assistant Secretary of Education in Washington, D.C. and was Oversight Counsel to the U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary. Prior to that, she worked in a public affairs law practice. Kristen graduated from UCLA School of Law where she was Law Review Editor. She completed her Tax LL.M. with honors at Loyola School of Law. Kristen is a member of the California State Bar, D.C. Bar and the Maryland State Bar.
