Presidents Message - Charles Schultz, JD, President & CEO

Dear Crescendo Friends,

We again have so much to be thankful for this year. Our GiftLegacy program is flourishing GiftCollege enrollment has exceeded 1,200 and we had record attendance of 350 at the Practical Planned Giving Conference in Chicago. Best of all, there was a terrific positive feeling about the conference. Everyone enjoyed our 48 breakout sessions and major addresses by Conrad Teitell and Ted Hart.

At the Practical Planned Giving Conference we held our first GiftCollege graduation ceremony. We are very pleased to welcome the first Certified Gift Planning Associates (CGPAs) and anticipate there will be many more in the future. GiftLegacy eAwards were given to three outstanding individuals. The Best Quarterly Print Newsletter Award was given to Kelly Johannessen of the Louisiana Methodist Foundation. Jeff Schacherer of Awana Clubs International was the recipient of the Best Video Greeting Award. And the Best Web Site Award was presented to Seattle University and accepted by Andrea King. Finally, with over $7.5 million of eGifts closed this year and $12.5 million of eGifts in process, Judy Cash of the McIntire School of Commerce University of Virginia was named the 2007 eMarketer of the Year.

We have expanded several areas of our GiftLegacy program. One of the primary areas has been the addition of the eDesign Seminars. With over 100 pieces of literature (in inDesign format) for quarterly print newsletters, brochures, ads, postcards, and other literature designed to work with the web site and eNewsletters, GiftLegacy charities are saving 20% - 30% on literature and adding a much higher level of personalization. The one-day eDesign Seminar was offered seven times during 2007 and will be offered in several locations during 2008.

Gift Annuities 1-2-3 continues to grow. We have recently received updated approvals of all of the Crescendo documents from the state of New York. In addition, Flora Resendiz and Bill Knox continue to assist many charities in registering. Now that two states, Washington and Alabama, have made issuing gift annuities without registering a major offense, many more charities have decided to register.

GiftCollege continues to grow. We started a new GiftCollege course in September and plan to start two courses per year. January and September each year. These courses will enable attendees to also benefit from periodic webinar review sessions.

With all of the growth of the GiftLegacy program, GiftCollege, our continued seminars and our 6,500 plus software users, we are also adding new staff. We welcomed June Kim, Tyler Bacon, and David Dawson to the GiftLegacy staff, Elizabeth Jackson to our staff of four attorneys, LeighAnn Foreman and Wendy Malm to the administrative staff, and Flora Resendiz to the Gift Annuities 1-2-3 staff.

While it is terrific to be able to see so many of you at the Practical Planned Giving Conference each year, I want you to know that I very much appreciate our friendship with all 6,500 plus Crescendo users. We continue to feel privileged to serve all of you who are directly helping those in need, feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, educating our youth and lifting soul and spirit throughout the nation. Thank you for your friendship and support.
